Collaborative Health Plans

From captives to association plans, our CUSO offers several pooled health plans to meet the needs of all credit union shapes, sizes, and locations.

Why Insurance Captives?

The I-Care Captive is an exclusive group of credit unions banding together to purchase insurance more efficiently. Throughout the last five years credit unions participating in the I-Care Captive have saved millions of dollars through collaboration. Pooling together with a group of peers reduces the volatility of medical insurance premiums. Stop-loss insurance costs are also significantly lowered when credit unions have the negotiating power of a larger group.

Why Association Health Plans?

Association Health Plans (AHPs) expand access to affordable health coverage, especially for employees of small organizations. These collaborative plans make it easier for credit unions to band together and provide lower cost, "large company" health insurance plans. In 2019, InterLutions successfully launched an Association Health Plan for small and mid-sized credit unions. The AHP launched with over 500 insured credit union employees and delivered on average of 12% in cost savings.

Understanding Your Health Plan

Health insurance carriers design health plans to transfer some of the risk (costs) to you through four insurance concepts: deductibles, co-insurances, co-pays, and out-of-pocket-maximums, yet most of us with insurance don’t really know what we have.
